A Reminder !

Some Sayings of Jesus Christ

The Wise Successful Person:

“Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock”[Matthew 7:24]

Forgiveness:

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”[Matthew 6:12]

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”[Matthew 6:14-15]

Cannot Serve both, God and Wealth, Evil:

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”[Matthew 6:24]

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than clothing?”[Matthew 6:25]

Fair Treatment of Others:

“Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”[Matthew 7:12]

Total Obedience to God:

“Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall thou serve.”[Luke;4:8]

“I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.”[John;5:30]

“Thy will be done”.[Mathew;6:10,26:42]

“Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”[Matthew 7:21]

“But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought of the things for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”[Matthew 6:33-34]

Perfection:

“Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.”[Matthew 5:48]

Benevolence in Behaviour:

“And unto him that smites you on the one cheek offer also the other; and he that takes away your cloak forbid not to take your coat also. Give to every man that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods ask them not again. And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them likewise. For if you love them who love you, what thanks have you? for sinners also love those that love them. And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks have you? for sinners also do even the same. And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks have you? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged: condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven:[Luke;6:29-37]

Peaceful Behaviour:

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”[Matthew 5:9]

“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca [worthless], shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”[Matthew 5:22]

Modesty, High Morals Respect of Women:

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”[Matthew 5:5]

“You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.”[Matthew 5:27-28]]

“Therefore if your hand or your foot offend you, cut them off, and cast them from you: it is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if your eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: it is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.”[Matthew 18:8-9]

Divorce

“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her who is put away does commit adultery.”[Matthew 19:9]

Rejection of Hypocrisy, Double Standards:

“And why behold you the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother’s eye.” [Matthew 7:3-5]

Law of Moses:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”[Matthew 5:17-19]

Righteousness, be Batter than Law Practicing Jews:

“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”[Matthew 5:20]

Prophesy of Next Prophet:

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me”(John; 16:12-14)

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.”(John;14:16)

“But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me;”(John;15:26)

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”(John;16:7).

Clear Unambiguous Preaching – Nothing Hidden or Secret:

“I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always met; and in secret have I said nothing”[John 18:20]

Use Intellect, Wisdom and Reason, No Blind Following:

“And he [Jesus Christ] said also to the people, When you see a cloud rise out of the west, immediately you say, There comes a shower; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass. You hypocrites, YOU CAN DISCERN THE APPEARANCE OF THE SKY AND OF THE EARTH; but how is it that you do not discern this time? Yea, and Why Even Of Yourselves Judge You Not What Is Right?”[Luke 12:54-57]

Disobedient, Foolish Person is Doomed:

“And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:”[Matthew 7:26]

Conclusion:

The chief business of ethics; according to ISBE (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) is to answer the question: What is man’s supreme good? For what should a man live? What, in short, is the ideal of life? A careful study of the New Testament discloses three main statements implied in what Christ designates “the kingdom of God”: man’s highest good consists generally in doing God’s will and more particularly in the attainment of likeness to Christ and in the realization of human brotherhood–a relation to God, to Christ and to man. The first is the pure white light of the ideal; the second is the ideal realized in the one perfect life which is viewed as standard or norm; the third is the progressive realization of the ideal in the life of humanity which is the sphere of the new life”.

Duties in relation to others, or brotherly love, are defined as to their extent and limit by the Christian’s relation to Christ. Their chief manifestations are: (i) justice, involving respect for others, negatively refraining from injury and positively yielding deference and honor, truthfulness, in word and deed, “speaking the truth in love,” just judgment, avoiding censoriousness and intolerance; (ii) kindness or goodness, embracing sympathy, service and practical beneficence which provides for physical need, administers comfort and gives, by example and direct instruction, edification; (iii) patience, comprising forbearance, peaceableness.” Virtues has been described by Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount [Mt 5:1-48; 6:1-34]
